It was found that the natural frequencies of the tab depend on the length between the weld spot and tab-end (interface between the battery tab and cell pouch), boundary conditions of the tab-end, the cross-sectional area, and the material of the tab. Therefore, it is important to design the weld position on the tab such that the tab’s natural frequencies stay away from 20 kHz as much as possible to minimize tab stresses.
